While the outcomes of the future are uncertain, and plans never go as expected, I have a number of goals to achieve for my future that I believe will lead to me considering myself successful. As long as I am able to meet these goals I have visualized for myself in the future, I will be satisfied with how my life has developed.
The very first thing I want to accomplish is a close step, getting into a college that I can be proud of. I’m not concrete about the details of my dream college, but a UC would be a fine fit for me, along with the reach schools I've decided on if fortune favors me. Once I get into college, I want to start taking classes until I find a discipline I am interested in and would be happy finding a career in. At the moment, I am interested in sociology and plan to major in the subject, but that may change over time. I will do my best to stay diligent in my classes and receive good grades, as well as keep up a social life and make connections. While I am in college, I want to get some work experience and start building up my resume for the future. At this point I become more uncertain about the direction I want to go. Maybe I will be content with a BA and go on to start my career there, but I may also try and reach for some higher education and aspire for a doctorate.
After I get out of college, likely in my twenties the first things that I want to accomplish are to find a home and to find a job. I may get an apartment in a city, or I could try to look for a home in a more rural area that would be more affordable. As for the job I would like to have, there are a few qualities I want in my career. The greatest quality I am looking for in a job is a comfortable wage, that would let me live above the poverty level and not have to worry about expenses, while also being able to save a bit of money for retirement and luxuries. The second is that the job involves a subject that I am both knowledgeable about and find interest in, so my work life doesn't become a stressful puzzle or soul snuffing grind. The third quality is that the job offers a reasonable amount of free time during the work week, so I have time to pursue my hobbies outside of my career. The years outside of college would be spent advancing in my career and pursuing my hobbies, which I will hopefully improve at and perhaps pick up new ones.
Twenty years from now, I hope to be educated and employed in a field I can enjoy. My life will be comfortable and fulfilling, which is more than enough to bring me satisfaction and happiness. I strive every day that my plan turns out true.
